Lisa Merullo Shows “Off The Road” At Art On No Gallery

Lisa Merullo will show recent artwork involving her time walking the streets of Pittsfield. The show, entitled “Off the Road”, will open on “First Fridays Artswalk” July 6, 5-8PM. An artist reception will be held the same evening from 5-7PM at the Art On No Gallery at 311 North St., Pittsfield, MA.

Lisa Merullo is an interdisciplinary artist who works in different mediums. This show will include large-scale paintings with found objects, painted hubcaps, and photographs of people in the streets of Pittsfield accompanied by voice recordings.

Lisa Merullo received a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Colorado in 1994. She joined the Art On No artist collaborative on North St. last year, coming from the Storefront Artist Project. Her work is expressionistic and hands-on, sometimes including performance. This recent work involves the incorporation of found objects into paintings with text. Having an interest in the local community, particularly the handicap in wheelchairs whom she had driven around as an EMT, she began photographing and talking to them about Pittsfield.

Art On No Gallery is located at 311 North St, Pittsfield, MA. The gallery is on the second floor. “Off the Road” is free and open to the public on July 6th during “First Fridays Artswalk”. Besides the featured artist’s show, many other members of the collaborative will have their studios open as well.
